Engineered for Axemen
The Flentje Families passion for wood and timber started in 1938 when my Grandfather Jack entered the Victorian Forestry Commission and studied at the Creswick Forestry School in west central Victoria.
Almost 30 years later my father David followed in his father’s footsteps and also studied Forestry at the same school. My family has been passionate about wood for as long as I can remember and some of my fondest memories are of helping my Grandad and Dad saw wood with a two-man chainsaw when I was a boy. I still remember the stacks of wood in my Grandads shed and the beautiful smell of freshly cut timber.
It wasn’t until the final year of my Mechanical Engineering Degree that I made contact with Nev Meyer and my interest for the sport of competition woodchopping was born. In the following months I not only began to love and appreciate the sport and the people in it, but I also used my engineering knowledge to start manufacturing the gear that we all use.
As time went on more requests were made by friends and fellow competitors and what started as ‘Flentje Axe Boxes’ has now transformed into Engineered for Axemen.
We are now a small company that is devoted to providing the highest quality products for competition axemen and axewomen all around the world. Everything that we manufacture is Australian made and we are very proud to have the Australian made logo on our products.
